Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

It's Christmas! For me, it's the beginning of the holiday season that will last for four weeks. First, it's a traditional Christmas with my boyfriend's family. Then, a fun Russian New Year's celebration with my family. Then back for Russian Christmas, which is celebrated on January 7. And finally, Old New Year on January 13, which is the beginning of the year according to the Julian calendar. Old New Year is not an official holiday, but people like to celebrate it with a hint of irony.

Christmas also means a lot of my favorite things:

Great TV & Christmas movies

Christmas in Connecticut (1945)

Agatha Christie's Poirot

Miss Fisher's Murders Mysteries

And wonderful music

Santa Claus Got Stuck In My Chimney - Ella Fitzgerald

Run Rudolph Run - Chuck Berry

Santa Baby - Eartha Kitt

Have a great one, everyone!

Women's Suffrage - A Pop Tribute

Happy belated Women's Day! As it is Woman's History Month, here is a tribute to some great ladies who worked hard, endured taunts, imprisonment and all sorts of general nastiness to get the vote!

Though, I do wonder about how willingly they went back to baking, cleaning, washing and caring for children after they got the vote. I mean, you ladies are on a roll, isn't this a good time to ask for equal pay, education and better work opportunities?

Pixar's Brave: The New Trailer

I love the looks of the new Pixar flick Brave! Not only is it the first film with a female lead from the great computer animators who brought us Toy Story and Wall-E, but the heroine's red frizzy hair, beautiful animation and wonderful score make me think that this is going to be one of the best films of the summer.

Brave is coming out June 22. Can't wait!

Dance Through Time

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video must be worth…a lot more.

Though it is rather odd that no one but white people seem to have danced or wore clothes in the last 100 years.
