Frozen Yogurt and Handmade Goodness

Last weekend some friends of mine from Finland Handcrafters Team and I had a Pop Up Shop in honor of Mother's Day (which is this Sunday, so remember to call Mum). The shop popped up, so to speak, in a cool little place called Yobot Frozen Yogurt. It does, in fact, sell frozen yogurt, which is very good.

We had a table all to ourselves where we displayed an array of handcrafted beauties for every taste and budget.

That's me there, doing some selling.

And, yes, we really did have something for everyone. For the booklovers Game of Thrones jewelry from Looney Dimitra Crafts.

Quirky and cute button earrings from InkaFinland.

Fuzzy buddies from The Sun and The Turtle and bright and happy kid pillows from Namia Designs.

Home and hearth from Kotona

And, finally, my  own frilly and romantic concoctions.

If you've missed the Yobot Pop Up, don't despair. You can find all of these lovely things on Etsy. Mother's Day is just a few days away and why not special order something very special for your Mum?

Prep Work for my First Pop Up Shop

I don't have much time to blog this week, mostly due to various deadlines, but also because I've been quite busy getting ready for my first Pop Up shop with some lovely people from Finland Handcarfters Team.

The venue is this really cool (pun intended) little Frozen Yogurt place called YoBot. So if you're in Helsinki this upcoming weekend,  then come and check us out. Since Mother's Day is coming up, this could be a great opportunity to find some cool and throutghful gifts for your Mum.

Photos from Craft Fair Ofelia Market 2012

I found my photos from last year's Ofelia Market and thought I'd share them with you. For those who don't know, Ofelia Market is an annual craft fair for people who love vintage, rockabilly, lolita, kawaii, steam punk, retro and goth fashion and accessories. It's usually a one day event and there are fashion shows and dance performances. So buying or browsing, you are guaranteed a good time. There is often an overall theme for the fair. This time it was "Día de los Muertos" or Day of the Dead.

Sellers and performers came all dressed up.

Some were a little shy:

Even the customers came in their full regalia. This pretty romantic lolita was my favorite:

These gorgeous dames from Olivia Rouge were putting on quite a show:

The girls from Malandra are real pros with those hula hoops:

The mysterious, leather-ly goodness of House of Simone:

Exotic glamour of bellydancing courtesy of Laura Luna:

Manly men and their manly man-fashion from Varusteleka:

My table, which I was sharing with Nellin Shoppi. She makes cute animal bookmarks, pendants and earrings from polymer clay. My stuff is on the right. I'm more of a romantic, frilly type:

That's me, trying to make a sale.

It was really fun selling at a crafts fair. I'm going to try and attend more of those next year.

Preparing for Ofelia Market

I have been sadly neglecting my blogging duties due to a very special event I am planning to attend. It is called Ofelia Market (yes, with an 'f'). This wonderful craft fair and flea market is organized every year for all those who love vintage, lolita, goth and burlesque style. There are workshops and performances, and it is great fun for everyone involved.

So if you happen to be in Helsinki this weekend, come by and check it out. You will not regret it, I promise.

The reason I am so excited about Ofelia Market is because this year I will not simply haunt the stalls looking for quirky stuff to buy, I will be selling some of my own things. Yes, it is true. I am a crafter; have my own Etsy store and everything.

On account of that, I have been pretty busy making new items to sell. My room is currently a battleground of ribbons, buttons, lace and super glue stains.

My desk. No room for the laptop

Ofelia Market has its own blog. It's in Finnish, but Google Translate can help you with it. So check it out.
